Once Again, The Happiest Day Of The Year

It's the first day of school here in India and I'm one happy mom! I have no pictures of first day girls to post since O. said to send them in regular clothes instead of their uniforms because it is just TOO HOT.

We are waiting on the rain and it is just not coming but it unkindly sent in the humidity instead.

G. didn't make it to her first day of school ever because she has to go to the doctor today to get out her stitches (hopefully.) I'll send her tomorrow if all goes well. The kids all just cry the first two weeks anyway...

No More Funky Water

It's been hovering around 115 degrees here in Northern India lately. I cannot even begin to describe the heat of the last week, esp. during our 2nd tour.

I appear to be melting in this photo, it's about 11PM and we're eating dinner in the village church.
Our youth team didn't come with us to the youth meeting at the 2nd tour, but we called them at the last minute to come. They sat up all night on the roof of a bus just to get to us. Needless to say - very very tired kids.
At the location of the second tour we were houses in an old British era mission compound. Huge rooms with high ceilings but ancient fans. Ours never did get to work.
WATER! The hot wind blowing just dried us out. We couldn't drink enough and the water would turn hot almost immediately - hence, funky. The stone floors were so hot from heat that even inside the building our feet would burn when standing without shoes.
Feel the heat.

Yeah, The Hot Is Here

There is a need inside me to communicate about The Hot here. To let you know, the faithful 8 people who follow my blog, that its hot here and I'm sweaty and salty all the time. I know. Unpleasant.

The Hot, is here.

Super Hot

Since we've arrived back in India it has been Really Hot and Really Humid. Like Super Hot. Unseasonably Hot. So hot, that the only thing anybody even talks about any more is how-hot-it-is.

We didn't have much of a rainy season here in our little corner of India this year and this is distressing on many levels. Just the stinkin' hot-ness is distressing, but more than even that- no rain means vegetable, grains and fruit prices go up. Way up. Inflation is in full force here in India. And let's not forget- when it's unseasonable hot, people get sick.

For me personally, my skin has decided to peal off my body in protest of the hot weather. No, not like a sunburn, I'm not at all burned, it's just been so hot for so long, my skin pealed off my elbows. See photo:

Yes, it hurts. Yes, it burns. Yes, I bump this sensitive area over and over again every day - hence why the skin pealed off of there and not, say, my nose.
Good News! It rained today. Maybe the humidity will break.

My HOT Post

Every summer I post that everyone has gone home on vacation and I’m lonely, likewise I generally post about how stinkin’ HOT it is. So here it is people.

It’s hot, every year, and every year I will let you know just how hot it is.

A couple days ago I was in the car around 4:30 in the afternoon and it was so hot that it felt cooler (Ha!) to sit in the car with the windows UP than to have the heated air blowing in on me from outside.

It’s so hot that when I go outside in the daylight my skin cracks and peels right off my face. OK, not really but it feels like it will.

It’s hot, I don’t know how hot ‘cause I don’t understand that centigrade stuff, but it’s hot. Real hot. India hot.

By the way, Happy May Day to those who care.

Too Hot To Blog

I am the excuse queen when it comes to not blogging. Actually, I have a standard that I like to upkeep of quality and regularity in my posting. When I fall short, well, you get an excuse post like this onew.

But it really is too hot to blog or do anything on the computer. I am overdue for an annual newsletter and since I only have time to work on the computer in the afternoons and evenings - it's just not getting done. Way way too hot.

I'm also feeling disturbed today. I got an email telling me about friends of ours who also work like us in India but are currently in the US, saying that they were in a terrible car accident. The wife just had a baby by C-section 3 weeks ago. By God's grace they all survived with broken bones and bruises. But it's had me feeling weird all day. Then the people who live behind us were piping the water out of our water tank for a roof they were putting on and they didn't even ask.

I just had to go out back, pull the pipe out in front of them and tell them that this is not common neighborhood water and you should ask people first before stealing from them. Hrmf.
