Dark brown hair - premature gray, color often?
I get bad white roots within like - one week after coloring these days. What to do? I decided to try to put henna on my hair in the in-between times.
I went for brown, confirmed that it would not turn my hair orange, then put it on tonight.
Long story short, I had to have O. do an emergency run with me to the store at 8:45 tonight to get hair dye because there is no way I'm going to church tomorrow with this orange head.
Shoulda known better...
I don't know what to do about the roots, probably need to go blond.

Back From Bombay
By the time I got back from Bombay my girls were in the midst of school exams, so there has been lots of studying for things like Math, and English and Social Studies. I send them to someone else to study for Hindi. Not much time for blogging or computer in general.
I was also annoyed for the last few days, I think going away from home does that to me. I was only gone for 1 1/2 days but little things get changed. Our wheat ran out and someone bought the wrong kind to replace it and it was old and yucky. E.'s school uniform shirt turned up missing and I still haven't found it... Little things like that throw off my balance, but other than that the trip was a blessing.
The only negative thing was the feast P. and I gave to the mosquitoes all Tuesday night, they kept us awake. Unpleasant. Getting home tired probably didn't improve my mood.
My talks did go well, I think. I had two sessions with women in the afternoon and then I was the special speaker at a church's 10th anniversary. In addition to speaking, I think I prayed individually for about 150 people. Not Kidding. My favorite prayer request was a lady who came forward with two small, grungy looking children and said (as her prayer request), "They bug me all the time." I said, tell me about it, I've got four!
All in all, a good time. I did get a call from the pastor's wife last night saying that her husband had been suffering for three days with chest pain due to high BP and to please pray. His name is Dennis.

Travelin' To Speak Tomorrow
I'm booked for two speaking engagements tomorrow near Mumbai (Bombay). I'll drive (be driven) there early tomorrow morning.
The first is from 2-5PM among the women in friends of ours' church. The 2nd meeting is a church opening and I don't know them. I just happened to be in the area due to the Women's Meeting and was utilized.
I'll be speaking on "Walking in the Light" for the women's gathering and on 2 Samuel 24:24 for the church opening. Pray for me if you remember.
O. will be home with the three girls. He relishes the chance to play Mr. Mom.*

Clipping My Nails
Yesterday at this time I was sitting out front of my house clipping my fingernails for about a half an hour. I just couldn't really bring myself to do much other than that. The laundry could get hung out to dry later, the kids could do their homework later, whatever there was to do, it didn't seem so important. I think I was still in shock.
I'm feeling a little more active now.

The Typhoid Story
As you know we were afflicted with a nasty virus last week in the O. household. By last Friday I started with the headache and then in the middle of the night the vomiting started. Ewww. So it was that E. and I spent all Saturday and Sunday in bed with unpleasant symptoms. Green vomiting, throbbing head, dizziness, etc...
By Monday morning I could actually get out of bed and made it to the doctor. She had me go for a blood test and urine test (that took a while since I was dehydrated and I nurse AND I spilled the first vial down the toilet.)
Finally, I was back in the doctor's office with the reports.
Dr.: Ohhh! (dramatic pause) You have Typhoid. And it's + 2!
Me: Well, I do feel really bad.
Dr.: And Hepatitis. +1!
Me.: Huh.
Dr.: Oh, this is strange, do you have any Diabetes in your family?
Well, three was enough for me. I got admitted for three days and after subsequent blood tests was cleared of the Diabetes (I hadn't eaten for many days) and the Hepatitis was just "on the way", not fully developed.
I had constant IV drips of meds in my hand for 3 days, it was painful and uncomfortable and my hand is still quite swollen, but at least, somewhat useful again.
I am on bed rest and meds at home and go back for a check up on Tuesday. I feel pretty weak and still kind of headachy. I think I got the same virus as everyone else and that wore down my immunities so that the Typhoid could jump on and have its evil way with me. It was just waiting in the wings somewhere in my body for a chance to attack. Kind of like in a horror movie.(This is my medical opinion. Loads of people have had this virus and I'm the only one with Typhoid.)
Thanks to all who prayed and wrote. Keep praying.

The Back Aching Has Started
I know I am nearing the end of my pregnancy when the body pain starts. Up til now I've felt really good. Other than some shooting pains in the front and back of my legs occasionally (esp. after sitting for a long time) there has been nothing. I sleep pretty well. (I feel like I need to whisper this - but - I don't even wake up in the night to pee... well, maybe only once.) Not even one real leg cramp the whole time.
I'm due on Feb 15. I'm pretty sure I'll go til then or after. I feel way too good right now. The back ache is due to sitting for three hours at my computer last night. Yeah, Duh. I'm shutting down already...

Abscess
I was admitted in the hospital for the 2nd time in my life (other than deliveries) yesterday morning. Second time in four days actually, and it wasn't even labor pains.
I had an ABSCESS.
By Tuesday night I was in such terrible pain I knew I had to be the first one to see the doctor on Wednesday morning. It was a good thing that I had just been admitted there because the nurses and all the staff members rushed me right in, (thinking I was in labor - again. I wasn't.)
The doctor took one look at me and said, "Oh, you look sick." She took one look at my sore bottom (yes, that's where it was) and said, "This is a deep abscess, I need to operate on this."
Abscess
An abscess is a collection of pus. Pus is a thick fluid that usually contains white blood cells, dead tissue and bacteria (germs). The usual cause of an abscess is an infection with bacteria.
Where do abscesses form?
The skin. Most abscesses form just under the skin. A boil is the most common example. In this case, a hair root becomes infected and develops into a small abscess. The skin next to the anus is another common area for an abscess to develop. The symptoms of a skin abscess include: swelling, redness, pain, and warmth over the affected area.
Who gets abscesses? Most skin abscesses occur in people who are otherwise well. There is usually no underlying cause, and no further problems usually occur once it has gone.
Thanks to http://www.patient.co.uk/ for this.
So, Once again I was admitted in the hospital. They gave me anesthesia, which I was really happy about (To have the anesthesiologist come and administer the drug cost me $10). I didn't feel a thing. I didn't even know I passed out, I kept waiting for them to start the operation.
I stayed in the hospital for observation - hungry and thirsty - til 9PM when she released me. I'm feeling MUCH better today.
This morning I was thinking about all these physical problems and I was reminded of the following verse: "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day."

Labor Pains
I had totally normal pregnancies and deliveries the first 3 times around, what's the deal with number four? I've decided I'm just getting old.
On Saturday I was preparing dinner and started having painful stomach cramping. At first I thought it was dysentery and went to the bathroom 3 times. Not much was happening there.
I didn't think about it and went to the kitchen to start dinner and that's when the severe stomach pains started. No back pain, no pressure, just low, centralized, strong pains.
Phoebe (who lives with me) came home at just this time and I said, watch dinner (it was on the stove) and I went to lay down. The pain kept coming at regular intervals and I thought to myself, "I know this pain, these feel like contractions." I was a little embarrassed but I called O. and said come right home, I need to go to my doctor.
He came after a few moments with his entourage of 4 or 5 other people. Also, our pastor and his wife and 2 children came to visit at the same time, so we, all of us, piled in the car to go to my doctor/hospital.
The whole time I kept thinking."If this is gas pains, I'm going to be really embarrassed." For this reason I was strangely relieved when the Doctor examined me and said,"Oh yes, you're contracting, the baby has come down very low."
I'm Due February 15th and Saturday was November 15th so that means I was exactly 3 months - too early.
The Doctor gave me two painful injections to stop the contracting and admitted me over night for observation. I had to lay in a hospital bed with my feet elevated above my head and no pillow - all night. It was torture. I had/have a horrible head cold and my sinuses were killing me. I didn't sleep a wink. I just wanted to go home.
During the darkness of the night I took my blanket and slipped it under my head but soon after one of the 2 ladies who stayed over night in the hospital with me, said,"Oh no no no." And whipped it out.
The Doctor examined me at 7:30AM on Sunday morning and sent me home for 4 days of bed rest. I go back on Thursday.

Sufficient Grace
Yesterday morning during our office devotions time we looked at 2 Corinthians 12. After reading through it together our pastor asked us each to share a few thoughts on the passage.
Verse 9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" is a verse I think about often. During my "few thoughts" I admitted that there are times where I feel and I say to God, "Your grace isn't enough for me today."
But then I shared that after it all, God always brings me out on the other side, therefore proving that His grace was sufficient for me, even if I felt like it wasn't.
This is a lesson I'm learning, that God's grace being sufficient for me is not dependant on whether or not I feel like it is sufficient or not.
I guess I really could have learned all I needed to know about this from the "Footprints" poem.

Medicine Queen
I was back to the Dr. (a different one) again today. This time for an inner ear infection.
I could feel it coming on since last night and when G. shouted near my ear and it vibrated I knew it was time to get to the ear nose and throat guy. Better not to delay - tomorrow is Sunday.

Gastritis
That was the diagnosis on Monday. Gastritis.
Acc. to MayoClinic:
"Symptoms
The signs and symptoms of gastritis include:
A gnawing or burning ache or pain (indigestion) in your upper abdomen that may become either worse or better when you eat
Nausea
Vomiting
Loss of appetite
Belching or bloating
A feeling of fullness in your upper abdomen after eating
Weight loss
Acute gastritis occurs suddenly and is more likely to cause nausea and burning pain or discomfort in your upper abdomen. "
Yes, that is me.
The Dr. also informed me that this is due to the monsoon season, I'm having "hormonal fluctuations" and I am also, "genetically not suited to Indian food."
She gave me 10 pills and some vitamin juice.
I am feeling better since yesterday but once again had some bad stomach pain in the afternoon - possibly due to my lunch - read next post.

Stomach Thing
There have been a whole plethora of things I've wanted to blog about over the last several days but due to lack of time and illness I haven't had a chance. Sorry.
I've had a weird stomach thing for the last 9 days and I've felt pretty miserable for most of that time. I'm going to the Dr. in an hour. Enough is enough is enough for goodness sake. I hate feeling lousy.

Making Change
I changed the password on my yahoo email account for the first time yesterday, after over 8 years. I know. Some of you are cringing.
I had just gotten used to it. But lately, the password was bothering me because it previously had significance but didn't any longer. I feel really good about the whole thing now.

Weird Waiting Mode
I'm waiting. The strange thing is, I'm not sure what I'm waiting for.
Waiting is unpleasant. The good thing is, generally, you know what you're waiting for. The "special someone", a job, a house, a vacation, admission, an adopted child...
I'm in waiting mode, and I have no idea what's coming. Not a great place to be, but it's way better than Hopeless.
